Hello!

Welcome to 2D Design

This class will consist of drawing, painting and printmaking and mixed media collage.

My name is Lilly Windle and will be teaching all levels of 2D Design at Lincoln 2020-21.

  • Class meeting and making artwork:
Synchronous learning will be live and involve using Canvas, Google Meets and Google Drive as well as a sketchbook and drawing/writing tools.  Asynchronous learning will be likely independent and will involve an art making place with art supplies, a firm surface to draw on, and good light- natural light is best but not required. Asynchronous learning might involve small groups and or museum visits or working with an artist mentor.

  • Making art at home during online learning:
It is important to find an art making place at home and keep some basic supplies there for the student artist’s use. It will not be necessary to have the art making place be the same place as the computer, but the artist needs 1.some supplies, 2. some good light and 3.a firm surface to work on, (a bed/pillow/couch would be very challenging!).

  • Art Supplies and 2D Design Art Materials Collection:
All students will be able to be successful in any level of 2D Design regardless of materials collected or ability to pay a fee. Any student needing materials they can not get I will provide for them. I have linked the 2D Design materials collection list and the url is https://docs.google.com/document/d/1F0ApNTXWboMb9yMg52Xx08Uh7VNgDsLJ8IXDiya7teU/edit?usp=sharing
Look for the most important supplies around your home.  Be flexible!

  • A Word about Fees for Supplies:
The visual arts classes depend on donations to purchase the supplies we need to provide to ALL students.  In past years, families have been asked to donate a $60.00 fee for every art class they registered for and/or to sponsor others and all supplies would be provided in class.  As we are no longer IN SCHOOL we appreciate if your family can make a tax deductible financial or in-kind donation to the Visual Art program. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Donate directly to Lincoln and make a memo for Visual Art Supplies.
THANK YOU for your support and loving the Arts!

Getting Involved with Art in the Community

PICA’s 18th Annual Time-Based Art Festival Youth Mur al Project: Aspirations for Justice   Classroom Law Project is honored to be a partnering organization with the Multnomah County Courthouse in their Youth Mural Project. The purpose of this project is to  engage the youth of Multnomah County, celebrate the opening of the new central courthouse, and create a visual representation of the aspirations for the court system, from the perspective of our young people. Those aspirations will be reflected in a collection of murals that will be displayed as part of the early-October opening of the new central courthouse at least through the end of 2020. We are now seeking submissions from young artists to represent Classroom Law Project in this installation. https://classroomlaw.org/youth-mural-project-aspirations-for-justice/ PICA’s 18th Annual Time-Based Art Festival 2020 SEPTEMBER 10–30 PORTLAND OREGON USA TBA:20 is a request to take your time, to engage at your own pace, and to take care of
